Special Projects’ Collections

We have three special projects we are undertaking this year. The first project, updating O’Brien Hall is made possible through the generosity of the Women of St. Benedict and Ben’s Men. In addition, parish volunteers have offered their time to help. We appreciate you all!

Of the two remaining projects for 2008, the first is the purchase of a riding mower that cuts hillsides. This piece of equipment will allow our maintenance team liberation from hours with weed whackers to manually cut the hillsides of our property. It also offers the safety that a regular mower does not on hillsides. The second project is the renovation of the Rectory porch and deck. Worn floorboards and steps plus railings that are deteriorating make it unsightly and unsafe.

The Finance Council determined that we can’t budget the funds for these two projects in our regular fiscal year plan for 2008-09, so we are asking for your help through a series of special collections, beginning July 5/6. We’ll also use some fundraising events that are being planned to offset these costs. The remaining projects will be funded through a series of special collections in 2008 and three major fund raising events soon to be announced. These events will not only bring the revenue we need but also help us in our efforts to build community. Tthe next collection is scheduled for the weekend of July 19/20.
